Staatsballett Berlin premiered "La Bayadère" created by Marius Petipa and reconstructed by Alexei Ratmansky with newly developed costumes and stage design by Jerôme Kaplan on November 4, 2018. Principal guest Polina Semionova danced Nikiya, devadasi, a temple dancer, in collaboration with her long-time partner Alejandro Virelles in the role of Solor and principal dancer Yolanda Correa who portrayed Gamzatti, Solor's royal fiancée. In his production Ratmansky tried to re-create the realm of pre-British India with its splendid grandeur and luxury, religious aura and strict dedication to traditions.

We offer to you attention a photoreport from the premiere performance at Staatsoper Unter den Linden taken by Irene Wissel specially for our Voci dell'Opera.
